About GIP

The GIP is one of several professional development groups sponsored by the AAMC. The primary purposes of the GIP are to:

  • Enhance the planning skills and knowledge base of its members.
  • Establish an active network of communication among its members.
  • Serve as a planning resource to the AAMC.

With a membership of 1,100, the GIP attracts planners from across the spectrum of academic medicine, including those from medical schools, medical centers, hospitals, and other health system organizations.

Many GIP members are responsible for traditional campus planning functions such as regional and land-use projects, facilities planning, and space allocation and management. Other GIP members serve as strategic planners, program and business planners, or institutional planners and analysts.
