Become a Member
Membership in the GEA is open to all faculty and professional staff at AAMC-member institutions with professional responsibility across the medical education continuum, including undergraduate and graduate medical education and continuing professional development, and in medical education research and scholarship.
Is my institution an AAMC member?
GEA members are self-nominated. There are no membership fees or dues for individuals. To become a member of the GEA, complete the membership application below.
About the GEA
The GEA is divided into four regions: Central (CGEA), Northeast (NEGEA), Southern (SGEA), and Western (WGEA).
The GEA also includes five sections:
- Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). Promotes excellence in the education of medical students from selection to graduation.
- Graduate Medical Education (GME). Promotes excellence in the education of physicians during residency and fellowship training.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Promotes excellence in the education of physicians throughout their careers.
- Medical Education Scholarship Research and Evaluation (MESRE). Enhances the quality of research and scholarship in medical education and promotes its application to educational practice.
- Staff Professionals Across the Continuum of Education (SPACE). Provides a forum for staff professionals to connect, network, discuss common topics, share ideas, and incorporate best practices.
